SCRIPTURE READING: JUDGES 6: 1-24
FOCUS: “And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;” (Judges 6: 3)

That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today. When the Israelites sinned against God, He handed them over to the Midianites; their bondage involved only the Midianites when it began; but in our Focal Scripture, the Amalekites and children from the east joined the Midianites in attacking Israel. The bondage that was allowed to persist soon increased.
Friend, hear God’s warning: any bondage you allow to persist in your life will grow to the next level. Every sin or negative habit you allow to survive in you will push you into more sinful habits; every wrongdoing you accept around you will grow out of your control if care is not taken; when one area of your life is in bondage and you allow it, it might likely increase and spread to other areas.
Is there any bondage you have seen in you or around you? God says, nip it in the bud; stop the enemy before he stops you; break the chain of sin before it breaks you into pieces; discard negative habits before they become your albatross; walk away from relationships that are more negative than positive; fight against bondage before it becomes stronger and more powerful.
The Midianites’ agenda was to impoverish the Israelites, and when they got more hands from Amalek and children from the east, the job became easier. When you allow the enemy’s bondage to grow in you, you are simply making your destruction easier. Any bondage you sustain will become stronger and more lethal.
Break away from every chain that is holding you down; break every chain of the enemy; break away from bondage; stop the bondage; don’t allow bondage to persist.
Pray With Me: Lord, I break away from every bondage in my life; no bondage will persist, in Jesus’ name!
